‘The key to a healthy lifestyle is to embrace an omnivorous diet’

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: “Plant foods are those Mother Nature gave us as cleansers – they do not feed us, nourish us, they do not build your bones or your brain or your muscles. They do not nourish or feed anything. They are given to make our bodies clean and to detoxify us. Both are important. It is important to be fed well and to be cleansed well.” – Nutritionist Natasha Campbell-McBride on the merits of having a balanced diet.

A RUSSIAN-born former neurologist and practicing nutritionist has questioned current trends pressing for society to have plant-based diets.

Dr Natasha Campbell-McBride was speaking to Dr Joseph Mercola of Mercola.Com Taking Control Your Health – animal foods consisting of meat, fish, dairy products and eggs and plant-based foods of seeds, nuts, fruits and vegetables and both are needed by the human body. The full interview can be viewed here.

She is well-known for development of the concept of Gut And Psychology Syndrome (GAPS), and more can be found on her work here.  She has a surgery as a nutritional consultant helping patients conditions such as heart disease, arrhythmia, stroke, high blood pressure and other complications of atherosclerosis.

‘It is important to be fed well and cleansed well’

“The animal foods – the meat, the fish, the eggs and dairy products – are the foods that Mother Nature gave us to feed ourselves. They are the building and feeding foods. They build your muscles, your brain, your immune system and all the other organs in your body. They feed you and build you up.

“Plant foods are those Mother Nature gave us as cleansers – they do not feed us, nourish us, they do not build your bones or your brain or your muscles. They do not nourish or feed anything. They are given to make our bodies clean and to detoxify us. Both are important. It is important to be fed well and to be cleansed well.”

‘Patient ran into great trouble and washed herself away’

Mrs Campbell-Bride referred to a 6ft female patient she recently saw who weighed only 51 kg having taken on the vegan diet a year before and she described her as looking “pale and malnourished” and her menstruation stopped as soon as she started.

She was described as being “health-conscious” and stripped out all the junk and processed food and loved cooking.
“She listened to the government food pyramid, the glossy magazines, to what the TV said and all the misinformation in the world. For a year she lived on fruit and vegetables and whole grain foods cooked at home and whole beans and nuts and all raw foods she prepared from nuts. She ran into great trouble and washed herself away.

“I was explaining to her that for a year ‘you have been cleansing yourself’ because you have been only eating cleansing, detoxifying foods and you were not feeding yourself, so you cleansed and cleansed yourself until you became washed out. Now it is time to feed yourself because plant foods do not feed us.”

She claimed the methods used to make plants more digestible for the human body involved is through cooking and fermentation, their structure becomes broken down and they become “less of a detoxifier”.

‘Body can only feed itself with good-quality animal products’

Anyone who is overweight or “stuffed” and wants to be temporarily cleansed of toxins, then a vegan diet for a short period of time is a good idea but not a long-term solution, she said.

“For a short period of time to cleanse yourself, a vegan diet is a good idea, it will wash out all the toxins in the body and they will feel great but when the body is finished with cleansing, when it is cleaned up, it will give the person a signal, now I’m ready to be fed and that is when you need to start feeding yourself, you need to feed on animal products, you need to have good-quality meat, fat, fish, eggs and dairy products.”

‘If you want a family or children, don’t follow this diet’

“If you look at all the traditional cultures around the world who developed their own indigenous diets for millennia depending on where they live, there is no such thing as a vegetarian diet, it does not exist in nature or a traditional, tribal culture of humanity on this planet.

“Soon if you want to reduce your sexual activity, if you don’t want to have children and you don’t want to have any sexual energy at all, then perhaps the vegan diet is the right diet for you. If you want to have a normal life and belong to this world and have a family and children, then do not follow that kind of diet.”

When people say “Balanced diet” which is coined another way – “everything in moderation” that is one of the biggest alarms bells that they really don’t have a clue about what the real experts are saying.

They should instead say “Maximise the good, minimise the bad.”

This is the exact opposite of “balance” and “everything in moderation”. These are terms used by the industry to keep the profit flow steady. Why would you tell people to eat fibrous nutrition rich foods in a way that is “Balanced” meaning “Equal” to salty saturated animal fat? Makes no sense. But people like to hear that because it’s comforting and means they can justify it equally.

Watch out for anyone that says this… And Harvard university agrees;

I tried being vegetarian once for about 6 months and it made me feel terrible. Not for me I’m afraid.

Degree from a eastern block corrupt country where people with money buy degrees? Doesn’t sound very good does it.

Goes to show how easily people like this can be used to influence other people. There will be people out there right lapping up her views thinking it’s good for them. Literally speeding up their own progression towards an early death. It’s terrible.

Interesting read though. Always good to see what other people are saying.

Agree with this 100%, we were designed by Mother Nature to be omnivores, we need animal products and vegetation to nourish our bodies correctly, if you eat only animals or only vegetables you will become malnourished FACT. One example is vitamin B12.

Red Meat protein is an IMPORTANT input to CRITICAL Metabolic Pathways. Circumventing those pathways has bio-pathological consequences.

BELIEVING that to be otherwise is like BELIEVING you’re a gender other than the one your ACTUAL CHROMOSOMES indicate.

If God wanted us to be vegan he put the wrong set of teeth in our mouths.
