‘US must fight communism – there is no other place to go’

August 30, 2020

AMERICAN PATRIOT: “The American story was written by people like you and I, who love our country and take risks to build a future for our families and neighbours. I may be Cuban-born but I am 100 per cent American. If I gave everything away I had today, it would not equal one per cent of what I was given when I came to this great country of ours.” – Maximo Alvarez, founder of Sunshine Gasoline and Cuban immigrant, who made his name in Florida.

FALSE PROMISES: “Fidel Castro was asked if he was a Communist. He said he was a Roman Catholic. He knew he had to hide the truth but when the country is burning and gone, it is totally destroyed. When I watch the news about Seattle, Portland, Chicago and other cities and I see the history being re-written, I hear promises of a former life I never wanted to hear again.” Mr Alzarez speaking about his memories of Fidel Castro and the current social unrest in American cities. A LEGAL immigrant to the United States told the Republican Convention of how he escaped totalitarianism twice and urged the country to face down those forces currently trying to destabilize society through social unrest.

Maximo Alvarez, the founder of Sunshine Gasoline, and his family escaped the fascist regime of General Franco in Spain and this followed by leaving the Communist regime of the late Fidel Castro in Cuba, having moved there from Spain.

He currently lives in Florida’s biggest city, Miami, and this is not far from the Straits of Florida, is not just 90-mile blue strip of water on a map separating the state from the Communist country, that is currently ruled by Castro’s brother, Raul.

On Day One (25 August) of the Republican National Convention, the successful millionaire told delegates of how he escaped from Communism and rhetoric from the Democrat campaign reminded him of life under Fidel Castro and accused the party of making similar promises of spreading the wealth but doing the exact opposite.

‘The greatest blessing is the American Dream’

Mr Alvarez said: “It (The Florida Straits) divides freedom from fear. It divides the past from the future. First my Dad escaped from Spain, and then from Cuba.

“My family did not run away. By the Grace of God, I have lived the American Dream and it is the greatest blessing that I’ve ever had.

“I’m speaking to you today because my family are not abandoning what we have rightfully earned. There is no place to hide.

“I am speaking to you today because President Trump may not always be politically correct – he is in fact a successful businessman, not your average politician. Our president is a family man, a friend and most importantly our elected commander-in-chief.

‘My friends swallowed the Communist, poison pill’

“I have seen people like this (Joe Biden) before and movements like this (Antifa and Black Lives Matter) before and their ideas. I’m here to tell you we cannot let them take over our country.

“I heard the promises of Fidel Castro and I can never forget all those who grew up around me who looked like me, who suffered, who starved and died because they believed those empty promises. They swallowed the Communist, poison pill.

‘Folks came here clinging on pieces of wood in ocean’

“If you have the chance go to the Freedom Tower in Miami and listen. You can hear the sounds of those broken promises. It is sounds of waves in the ocean carrying families clinging pieces of wood – families with children who can’t swim but willing to risk everything to reach this blessed land.

“It is the sound of tears hitting the paper of an application to become an American citizen. Most heard live the promises but soon after the experienced the reality. Look at them. Listen to them. Learn the truth.

“Those false promises – spread the wealth – free education, free healthcare, defund the police. Trust a socialist state more than your family and your community. They don’t sound radical to my ears. They sound familiar.

‘Castro said he was Catholic, not Communist’

“Fidel Castro was asked if he was a Communist. He said he was a Roman Catholic. He knew he had to hide the truth but when the country is burning and gone, it is totally destroyed.

“When I watch the news about Seattle, Portland, Chicago and other cities and I see the history being re-written, I hear promises of a former life I never wanted to hear again. My parents only wanted one person to decide my fate – me, not some party member, government official or bureaucrat.

Mr Alvarez said he was so grateful for the opportunity given to him by migrating to America and how through investment, hard labour and determination, he had realised and was living the American Dream.

He said: “President Trump knows the American story was written by people like you and I, who love our country and take risks to build a future for our families and neighbours.

‘We can either choose freedom or oppression’

“I may be Cuban-born but I am 100 per cent American. If I gave everything away I had today, it would not equal one per cent of what I was given when I came to this great country of ours.

“It is up to us right now to choose freedom or oppression. President Trump is fighting the forces of anarchy and Communism and I know he will continue to do just that.

“I have no doubt that his opponent and the DC Swamp would hand the country over to those dangerous forces. You and I will decide and here is what I’ve decided. it is very simple.

“I choose President Trump because I choose America and freedom. And I still hear my Dad, ‘there is no other place to go’.
