‘We must stop this ideologically-driven madness before it is too late’

September 14, 2021

GLOBAL INSANITY: “There are those with passionate intensity who are watching our self-destruction and laughing, marvelling at how we in the West have forgotten who we are. I see it is blinkered ideologically-driven madness as it is all over the West. If the West isn’t careful it might shortly be all over for the West.” – Neil Oliver’s comments on the state of the West on the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

DICTATING LIFE: “Not content with just our freedom, our own Boris Johnson wants to take our gas cars and boilers as well, along for any appetite for foreign holidays or freedom unmolested to go to a nightclub or a gig without people demanding ID papers. I saw that Boris Johnson today loftily declaring that the Taliban had failed to undermine freedom and democracy. He’s right there, it seems to me like it’s his job.” – GB presenter Neil Oliver on the conduct of UK prime minister Boris Johnson.

SACRIFICIAL PAIN: A memorial that lies in the fields of Belgium. ” With every passing day it gets harder to deny our world is being dismantled deliberately by those who want to see it gone forever. We still doing it now. It is hard to know what is will replace our old world and what we will be allowed to do there. It appears to me we appear to be quietly surrendering our freedoms and rights that our ancestors fought and died to give us.”

A TRAINED archaeologist and TV presenter has made some poignant yet salutory observations on the 20th anniversary of the Twin Towers tragedy.

Fifty-four-year-old Neil Oliver is the presenter of several renowned series on archaeology and history, including A History of Scotland, Vikings and Coast. He was previously president of the National Trust of Scotland from 2017 to 2020.

On a monologue he recorded for GB News as a regular panellist for them, he recalled the day of 11 September 2001 when news wasn’t instant access like it is today and when there weren’t smart phones and saw the falling skyscrapers on a TV in a pub and reflected that the “world would never be the same again and had been irrevocably altered”.

‘We thought we were watching a movie but quickly realized we weren’t’

For myself I was in a newsroom in Somerset and my colleagues at the time gathered around news footage that screened from the middle of the office and whilst initially thinking it was a movie playing out in real life, it suddenly dawned on us that people trapped in the building were jumping hundreds of metres to their deaths and the atmosphere changed dramatically.

The 20th anniversary of 9/11 had been mired by the news that the Taliban had used an opportunity to take Afghanistan back to a “medieval past” but however callous and odious they were, “at least they who know they are and what they wanted” but what does the West want?

Mr Oliver made these brutal observations that showed us an ugly reflection in the mirror which prompt us all to fight harder for the freedoms that were fought for by past generations in the First and Second World Wars.

‘We have been censoring ourselves rather than telling the truth’

He said: “While some of us in the West were fretting about pronouns and privilege, or being made to feel shame about the colour of our skin, and censoring ourselves rather than telling the truth, murderers with no such concerns were getting ready to be winners to take all.

“For a year and a half we have lived as though nothing has mattered except a virus. We stopped our world dead in its tracks and went into our houses and hid. There was nothing by chance to fear from the world except from getting ill.

“Let me pause and take a breath that we might remind ourselves that the vast majority of people that catch Covid get over it with little difficulty and on account of this, we have stood by while our governments have taken our Western world apart piece by piece.

‘We are surrendering the rights our ancestors gave us’

“With every passing day it gets harder to deny our world is being dismantled deliberately by those who want to see it gone forever. We are still doing it now.

“It is hard to know what is will replace our old world and what we will be allowed to do there. It appears to me we appear to be quietly surrendering our freedoms and rights that our ancestors fought and died to give us.

‘Demanding ID papers at a nightclub – how British?’

“Not content with just our freedom, our own Boris Johnson wants to take our gas cars and boilers as well, along for any appetite for foreign holidays or freedom unmolested to go to a nightclub or a gig without people demanding ID papers.

In Australia they (the police) have been firing rubber bullets and pepper spray at anyone who won’t lie down and roll over. They’ve built quarantine camps; they’ve ordered everyone into their homes and even ordered them to stop buying alcohol to stop them get through the misery of it.

“The French Government is playing some of the same game. In the South Pacific Jacinda Ardern thinks she can keep Covid out of New Zealand forever.

Justin Trudeau is paying Canadian businesses to close the door on the unvaccinated lepers. In the US, President Biden is passing laws to make every last American take jabs, some of them just don’t want them.

‘Boris undermined our own freedoms, not the Taliban’

“I saw that Boris Johnson today loftily declaring that the Taliban had failed to undermine freedom and democracy. He’s right there, it seems to me like it’s his job.

Mr Oliver quoted the poem by English poet W D Yates that talks about troubled times when anarchy is loosened across the world by saying the “best lack all conviction” while the worst are “full of passionate intensity”.

‘West needs to know who they are again and quickly’

“There is obviously a passionate intensity in those who are taking apart the world we have known. Also with passionate intensity are those who are watching our self-destruction and laughing, marvelling at how we in the West have forgotten who we are.

“I see it is blinkered ideologically-driven madness as it is all over the West. If the West isn’t careful it might shortly be all over for the West.”
